It’s generally recommended that the cylinder’s theoretical output force be at least 1.5 to 2 times the actual load. For larger loads, consider cylinders with larger bores or other types of actuators.

Single-Acting Mini Cylinders: Have one air port; air pressure drives the piston in one direction, while a spring or external load returns it. Types include spring return (air extend, spring retract) and spring extend (air retract, spring extend).

  • Advantages: Simple structure, low air consumption (one-way), defined return position on air loss.
  • Disadvantages: Output force affected by spring force, typically shorter effective stroke (spring occupies space).

  • Seal damage, causing air leakage.
  • Unstable or jammed cylinder operation.

For applications with side loads, it’s recommended to:

  • Choose mini cylinders with integrated guides (e.g., mini slide cylinders, guided cylinders).
  • Design an external guide mechanism (like linear guides) for the load, so the cylinder only provides push/pull force.

When selecting a magnetic switch for a mini cylinder, consider these points:

  • Confirm Magnetic Piston: Ensure the chosen mini cylinder model has a magnetic ring on its piston.
  • Switch Size & Mounting: Mini cylinders are small, requiring correspondingly small magnetic switches. Mounting might involve direct banding onto round barrels or fitting into pre-set grooves on profiled barrels.
